In times of stress when a storm is raging in youre life, working as a slave has some benefits. you get youre needs met with knobs on if you have a desirable skill, and your head stays on straight while youre mindlessly following the dictates of the control system of youre slave driver. the intently intricate checks and monitors in all jobs of the type Im in, relieve you of having to plan youre day. every infinitesimal small measure of time is rounded up by the dictatorship system youre employed within, for their ends. you hve no time of youre own, apart from one half hour break outside youre job that comes down as youre break ends.

But, one advantage, you have nothing to think about.
I suppose this must be comforting for some.

if that was true, which I don't believe for one moment it is, what value are you or your labour adding?

And that would not be the case if you did no thinking. But this is far off the topic.

Given America's apparent hatred of communism, it seems that that has been used to convince them that quality of life and workers rights are only for the weak willed. Real men, expect to be worked till they drop and should be grateful that the boss gives them the scraps off his table. But freedom...

I would say that "some" Americans express hate for communism, but confuse it with socialism, which is a free lunch in their view. That was put to the ultimate test in 2016 when Russia "helped" Mr. Trump get elected. All of a sudden, Russia was no longer the enemy - at least for a little while. He returned that favor many times over in the middle/far east and in his dealings with Europe. That certainly did not make the state fascist - it tore the state into pieces in the name of capitalism - white privileged helping other white privileged. The aftermath is current history!

As I previously posted, Democracy is ill equipped to protect itself and therefore is subject to morphing.

Yep, it's been a while coming and no one seems to care.
