Does anyone else find this deeply disquieting?

They are both bad. The article linked to covers that a bit in the comments
Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

Almost every day there's something new and disquieting.
This morning it was the axing of the Mash Report... funny how that happened when the new DG of the BBC was a Conservative party donor.

yes!

I didn't fully understand the detail but on the surface disquieting....I'm sure reading between the lines it may be much worse.

personally I think this one deserves to be kept on topic...(if the topic is this bill)

Yes, saw that. No doubt it will be used as justification for the bill.

I wonder how many of the violent ones are genuine "anti bill" protesters ?

Just like the hooligans who used to purport to be football enthusiasts in the bad old days.

Few, if any I suspect. Probably all organised in advance.

This country is full of knobheads and that is the problem. Until there is a concerted effort to deal with them, then we will descend further into disorder. Just look the link below for the reason why these arseholes should be slammed head first into the nearest hard object by the police, full on Gene Hunt, Reagan/Carter style. Then locked up.

So you are in favour of the Fascist State then?

I’m in favour of thugs being dealt with. That is not fascism.

Deciding who the thugs are without a judge and jury is one of the steps to it though.

Well yes,
Law, order, democracy and the presumption of innocence are cornerstones of a civilised society, but with rights come responsibilities. Here’s a novel idea. If people just did as they were damn’ well asked for once, there wouldn’t be half as much trouble as there is at the moment.
People who want to exercise their right to protest, should look to Ghandi’s mass silent demonstrations for inspiration. Far more powerful a message than having a ruck. As a society, we’re inured to that.

If people just did as they were damn’ well asked for once
But who is doing the asking and what are they asking? Both these things matter. What if you don't agree with what is being asked? What if you question the authority and validly of whoever is asking?
People who want to exercise their right to protest, should look to Ghandi’s mass silent demonstrations for inspiration
That is by definition, not doing as asked. What should you do if the protest is ignored?
