#1 Server Move

Post by Nick »

Ok, so I have moved the server to a new host this afternoon. Expect problems and I will sort them as I find.

And Yes, I will be eventually enabling https :-)

The older server would just collapse under the load now and then. I had a cron job to restart it if that happened. So i decided enough was enough and its on a new shiny virtual server now. Will see how it goes.

I think the problem was the software rade the filesystem was using had problems when the database and web server were both being hammered at the same time.

So if anyone has any pen test tools they want to point at it feel free and we will see how it stands up.

YAY! YIPPIE! etc. etc.

Got an IP V6 address and a Letsencrypt cert too I see 8)

The tools I've so far poked at it, e.g. ssllabs.com & Nessus seem happy...

Actually, just updated Nessus and it's picking up a few things (nothing serious yet)... I'm doing a deeper scan and will email you the results rather than post here...

I noticed that the https addition had broken youtube links. Should be fixed now, but you can now just use the media embed link

Ta for keeping the forum running Nick.

Since the sever move I seem to be able to log in quicker now, the 'remember me' functions again too on each device I use.

Ok, I have replaced all the youtube links in bbcode with media tags. You should beable to just grab the entire uri from youtube and insert and it should do the right thing, or you can use the media tag to insert the url as well, no more stripping of the v= parts.

It should also work with a whole load of other media types.

Jack has reported a odd thing with the forum. He is getting notifications with odd forum urls in. For example:
You are receiving this notification because you are watching the topic
"Nothing In Particular" at "audio-talk". This topic has received a reply by
pre65 since your last visit. No more notifications will be sent until you
visit the topic.

If you want to view the newest post made since your last visit, click the
following link:

If you want to view the topic, click the following link:

If you want to view the forum, click the following link:
http://ww.audio-talk.co.uk/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=9[/code]

Can others who watch posts check to see if they are getting the same problems.

It should be www.audio-talk.co.uk, not ww.audio-talk.co.uk

And another thing: the URL is HTTP, not HTTPS.

I've had other notifications with no www at all. It's all very strange...
