#1 Recommendations needed for high quality valve bases

Post by RhythMick »

The last valve bases I used looked great (black bakelite) but have screw in pins. I thought that was a benefit until I overtightened a couple after they kept coming loose.

So I'm after recommendations. Ideally copper or gold plated copper contacts, ceramic for low capacitance. What do you all use?

I use ceramic with gold platerd contacts normally. CMC Teflon for best (both from HFC). Not sure low capacitance is any issue at audio frequencies we are working with.

I thought that too when I read the orignal post, but didn't comment at the time. :D

I used ceramic for my scratch-built AM radio, but again plastic would have been plenty good enough I'm sure.
