I've just picked up, FOC, a pair of cabinets for these Tapered Quarter Wave speakers, designed for Jordan full-range drive units.
https://sites.google.com/site/matteislo ... teis-story
The cabinets are in good shape structurally and have the concrete baffle but need refinishing as the veneer has some splits and other damage and will also need some new stuffing and wiring/connectors. No Jordan drive units unfortunately so I'll be on the look out for a used pair or saving up my pennys...
If I can get them back up together they'll be destined to replace the current speakers in the home cinema system.

well I never......
check out the design in your link with that shown here.......https://vitalstates.org/vsl/vofo/
I particularly like this description from your link:
"First of all the driver selected was the jx92s designed by Ted Jordan as this is the best full range driver available."
personally I quite like the jx92 but it certainly doesn't deserve the distinction mentioned above(IMO).
I attended the first(and only) diyaudio meeting in the UK in 2006 or 2007 where a chap showed a triangular section cabinet with a jx92...It sounded great and I still have a plan to do the same with a Seas fa22 which is still on the shelf unused...as soon as I can get to B&Q...

There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be

I built some like those a long time ago using a pair of mark audio chr70 drivers, that sort of cab can make nice noises, its also where the metronome idea came from. Not those specific cabs, but similar ones

A question regarding the need to refinish the cabinets. The current veneer looks like iron-on - I'm guessing if you can iron it on you can iron it off again?

Blummin heck, ten years ago i did those speakers....

Best bet with the veneer ray is probably to sand it back, fill in any spots where its chipped off, then re veneer over the top of it. If its iron on it would probably come off by re heating it, but it would probably be a pig to get it off and get all the hot melt glue of the carcasses once its off

I picked up a pair of Jordan JX92 drive units today.
I'll have to look at refurbishing the cabinets now - longer days and warmer weather shouldn't be too long in coming so I can get stuck into stripping off the old veneer.
