Regarding the fins.....”Superior off-axis performance is achieved by virtue of the ES Flare geometry eliminating the need for dispersion fins”
No personal experience/opinion on the fins, however on jet engines we got rid of the multicell ducts when our understanding of fluid dynamics improved. It wouldn't surprise me if a similar thing is going off here too.
Replicating horns - I don’t have the scanning equipment to reverse engineer a horn. I do have software to design Geddes CD horns, round or elliptical.

I don't really know either, because unless you use a fluid dynamics simulation of the wavefronts , which most programmes aren't you won't have a clear idea at what frequency the waves part company with the sidewalls. Just because the area expansion is fine, doesn't mean you can persuade eg 10kHz to stay in contact wit the horizontal expansion. I suppose you could use Hornresp and the wavefont simulation, and treat the elliptical expansion as two different cases ( H and V ) and see how each looked at the higher frequencies - might be close.
In any case the Yuichi is not high-fidelity beyond 5kHz, I think the fins just smear out the wavefronts, the tone is lost, but it doesn't sound harsh, that's what i found , so bringing in a tweeter is more successful.
I haven't got any detailed feedback from Chris about his friend in Brighton and how his elliptical wooden tractrix ( or Le Cleac'h ) sounds/tests .

These horns are not intended to cover the higher frequencies and in this particular case they will be crossed over to some Fostex 925A tweeters.

I have finally finished the horns off for Ian. You wouldn’t believe these absorbed almost 2.5 litres of finish. I now know why Ikea, 2k lacquer their birch products, birch ply is like a sponge. [attachment=0]8D247872-3D50-4813-A157-0A376AA1954D.jpeg

Superb !
The finish is great and worth it sonically as well as aesthetically.

I now have to come up with a world beating speaker in 3 weeks for Owston...... so many drivers and so little time
I have been playing with this . It’s an acoustic filter to get rid of the 8k nasty response for the Beyma TPL if you change the back chamber Not my design, I just had to 3D print it. Not to shabby in the response. Whether I use the TPL’s you will have to wait and see.

Wow, really nice.. looks like we going to have an interesting meet
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Bodes well for Owston
Sgt. Baker started talkin’ with a Bullhorn in his hand.

Those horns won’t be used at Owston, unless Ian has other plans....

Maybe I have confused the situation by posting the Freq response curve soon after the pictures of the horn.... that for a Beyma TPL with an acoustic filter fitted not the wooden horns.
