Yes, the one I pasted a pic of is also a Tweed. The only difference is the larger caps on yours and the earlier version has a cathode resistor bypass cap on first stage which I would have left off anyway like I always tend do whenever possible.
Otherwise identical.

according to wiki all after 5C were tweeds
it's a good article(wiki) and explains the super champ in great detail - a real imposter

IMHO, don't expect the front of the amp to give the overdrive if you are after a bluesy (whatever that means, but I think I know) sound. That will give you more of a modern post mesa high gain sound. A typical (especially tele sound) is much more about the output stage, power supply speaker doing its thing. The actual levels of distortion you need is not that great. Take for instance a lot of Hendrix playing, you may imagine its all overdriven marshalls, but listen to the guitar sound at the start of this, its generally clean. As is most of the guitar parts.
Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

Yes, I read elsewhere too. It's a nightmare.
Just have to treat it as fun I think.

I think this is what SRV was getting at and why his technician fitted low gain 5751's (I think) in the 1st stages of some his amps so as not to overdrive the early stages of amplification but still be able to get the output stage to drive hard and get 'that' sound he heard/wanted. I think our-ChrisMangler knows a bit more about this, I think we had a chat about it all in the early days at an EggyFest or summat.Nick wrote:........ is much more about the output stage, power supply speaker doing its thing. SRV also used pretty heavy gauge strings that created a much higher output so the 1st stages were always gonna get hammered by signal but the lower gain early on didn't clutter the sound so much. Clever stuff. SRV also had brilliant (IMO) damping technique and huge strength coupled with dexterity. Bending that gauge strings that far down the neck next to the nut..... awethumne.
Witness his chugging rhythmic damping awethumnessesssessessssess....
I must update my musical carreer goal's. I wanna play geetar like SRV, Drums like James Gadson, bass like Jaco/Marcus Miller/Rocco Prestia/Colin Hodgkinson and have a voice like Paul Rogers and play keyboards like Jimmy Smith.
Writing songs better than Bill Withers might come in handy too!

You have much to learn glasshopper.
Now if you spent more time doing your homework and less on that stupid plank with wheels you'd be sounding like Paul Rogers playing the Occarina already.
I've told you once!

Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Once upon a time, an innocent teenage Simon and Garfunkel fan was taken to a concert in a small venue in Plymouth. He'd never heard of the group that was playing. They were called Free. At the end of the evening he was seen leaning against a big loudspeaker at the edge of the stage. It had Marshall written on it. On his face was a look of seraphic bliss. In his ears was a loud ringing noise that lasted for several days.
For the next two years, I wanted to BE Paul Rogers. (Still do, a bit).

It's my name. How on earth am I ever going to get anywhere being called David.
From now on I am (Mr) Tharg 'nibbles' Gripnorth.

The tone I would like is like the track "A man and the blues" Budy Guy.
