venturing dangerously close to the border of the dark side yet again.....
there is a deal of chat about nCore amps(which I believe are Hypex) on other fori recently.
I picked up somewhere that Ian Studley might have forsaken his Pass stuff for one/two...is this true Ian? is this why you were recently selling heat sinks and other stuff?
anybody know anything about these things?

Not much, though I too have been reading up on them recently. Only problem in my case is that I'd need 4 channels, which at 325 euros per channel gets a bit pricey!
That's not including the PS either..
They are very good from what I've read though.

yeah the money is a bit of a downer, makes talking about them on a diy forum a tad academic....
you expect a bit of hype from the designer but this is a bit lavish:

I think Ed*s saying have a go Ali.!
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Top work there Ed.
Very Fast 'n Bulbous .
I guess with the nCore you need to know how the upper end ( 10k+ ) is handled - it seems that's the weak point of the class D typically . Is there anything commercial out there to listen to - just to suss out if the treble is more clean and natural ?
Hey but what about the F6 ??

The PDFs here: http://www.hypex.nl/technology/ncore.html show THD vs frequency, and it looks impressive enough. Not sure what they mean by "surpass them in every aspect relevant to sound quality" there's plenty out there that will beat those figures for "normal" listening, but nothing that I've seen that will beat them from mW to 1.2kW into 2 ohms. I'll stick with my 2W class A for now, as that is another design that should easily beat its figures for < 2W. Depends how much power you need I suppose.

I believe there are some commercial amps out there, but they use a more powerful module that is not made available to the DIYers. Stratospheric prices though..IslandPink wrote:Top work there Ed.

That's what I was hoping Ian Studley might offer....the chance to listen, If he has indeed replaced his Pass amp with the hypex boards. Is there anything commercial out there to listen to - just to suss out if the treble is more clean and natural ?
