#1 WANTED: GU81M socket...

Post by jack »

Don't know if I should be bothered by this - I could just solder onto the pins...

...but if someone has a spare socket at not too stupid I price, I would be interested - seems silly to pay to have one shipped from the Ukraine at much the same cost as the socket...

I sold a pair a few years back for twice the price of a per of gu81 valves.

I wonder how much heat there is down underneath...could melt the solder?
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

I don't know the valve but it may be like some Eimac tubes where the pin connectors are designed to take part in heat dissipation so running without the correct socket may lead to reduced service life.

Are the valve pins all the same diameter ?

And what diameter are they ? ( accurate dimension please)

They're not round, they're wedge shaped and the base of the valve is a complex shape with a large wedge of protruding glass that fits into a groove in the socket. The socket is a complex shape with a locking plate.
