Another of my surplus projects...
This is a great sounding DAC based on the twisted Pear Buffalo 3SE (ES9018) DAC board and Legato I/V stage. The ESS9018 accepts PCM and DSD input formats - I've used it upto 384Khz PCM and DSD256 via HQ Player.
Power supplies are Salas Reflektor Ds for the DAC and Salas BIB shunt regs for the Legato.
Input is via a network connection to a beaglebone Black running Twisted Pear Botic sofftware and interfaced to the DAC via an Acko SO3 isolator/reclocker.
There is a volume control using the ESS9018 onboard function.
The Legato board also offers a high quality headphone amp function.
At present the beaglebone software is running as an HQ Player client but it would be easy to load a different image onto an SD card and run it as a LMS or UPNP client.
Front panel is solid walnut.
The pictures below show the insides but there is a fully vented lid included (fully vented because the shunt regs run 'warm'!).
Oh, and it sounds very nice.
I'm looking for £250
PM me if you want to discuss.

Sorry, I couldn't resist!
#3 Re: Buffalo 3SE DAC
That is a beautiful dac. The description points to network only. Isn't there a coax, optical or USB input.
#4 Re: Buffalo 3SE DAC
Thanks for the kind comment. You're correct in your observation, as it stands this is a network only DAC.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!
#5 Re: Buffalo 3SE DAC
Hello, Is the DAC still available for sell?
