I think it's a nom de guerre he used to avoid paying tax on the royalties.

Yes, I’m enjoying rediscovering some old gems. The 45 amp simply plays this kind of music with no fuss or bother. It really is the best thing I’ve heard. Absolute magic, it’s no exaggeration to say.

To illustrate a point. It’s not classical, but I put the following CD on yesterday:

The recording quality of the 50 tracks on this CD is variable and none of them could be classed as hi-fi by any stretch of the imagination.
With the other amps (non 45) I’ve used, I could not get through either CD. With the present amp I played both CDs one after the other, enjoyed every track, revelled in some of the memories of the soul nights and all-nighters we used to go to and had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours.

Given the breadth of music listened to over the past few days, from big orchestras, string quartets, to Northern Soul stompers recorded in somebody’s basement through a sock, I know I’ve created an ‘All Music’ system. I always knew it was possible even though it’s taken around 30 amplifiers, some SE converted push-pull output transformers and five sets of DIY speakers to get to it.

I used to have quite a few of the CfP LPs back in the day, there were some good recordings in the catalogue.

Well it's great now.
Every time I play something, the music coming out is saying to me that all the building, the frustration and work of 15 years has been worth it. And all of it has come from a simple amplifier and a simple speaker. I mean neither of them could be any simpler and that is I guess what's so wonderful and so amusing really.

Yikes!
In a similar vein to the Branford Marsalis above. Far less cool though, but what the hell

Problem with James Galloway Acker Bilk and that xylophone plink plonker Lionel Hampton is you’re ready for a strong rope and an Oak tree after one side. Everything in moderation.
