The dinner is on and I can sit back and listen while, I hope, Anna comes home, to Keith Jarrett, Rio.

Just plonking away on the piano. Some of it is clever, some sounds clever and some is simply melodious ; lovely stuff.

The dinner is on, again, curry alchemy and deep red wine but what's playing?

God old honest US working class rock; Grand Funk Railroad, Closer to Home.

It helps if it is very loud. .. and it is....sorry neighbours but that's what comes from cheap Aldi Pinot Noir

As soon as Anna walks in I'll switch to a little whimsy, In a silent way - sublime.

Just been through a horrid day. Back to the family home when my mum was brought back for a Occ Health assessment (from Intermediate Care).
She was physically much less capable than 6 weeks ago, and is losing her memory and perception ( which were excellent until very recently )
I feel a partial bereavement, and and such, had to end this evening on my favourite Beatles track.

Hope you get Mum sorted out soon, Mark.

Your mention of the Beatles prompted me. I recently coughed up the £8 for a months subscription to Disney+ so I could watch the new Peter Jackson Beatles film, Get Back. This is over eight hours long spread across three episodes. It is a seriously good film that grasped my full attention completely. It displays the remarkable creativity that each member brought to the group, their easy relationship with one another and their individual musical talents. It had me transfixed. I think I’ll watch it again but with the sound plumbed through the system. I really can’t recommend it highly enough.

I'll listen to Rick tomorrow but I did listen to a radio 4 prog on Peter Jackson, his relationship with the beatles. This Let it Be documentary is ery highly regarded and tells a tale of Beatles that almost everyone missed. I must watch it!

What with McCartney’s book and Peter Jackson’s magnum opus, which I’ve yet to see, the boys are everywhere at the moment, so I thought I’d revisit the essentials. This sparked a few random observations.

1) Despite not categorising myself as a Beatles fan, I seem to know every word of every song on the 62-66 album. This surprises me because, if asked, I’d say I preferred their later work.

2) Despite Sergeant Pepper being acclaimed as the real breakthrough revolutionary album, most of the songs I think of as being core psychedelia-period Beatles material are on Magical Mystery Tour.

3) Ringo was a brilliant drummer.

4) It’s impossible to imagine how different the musical world would be if they hadn’t existed.

There's a wonderful gently funny film ( with Ed Sheeran) , I think it's called Yesterday. It poses the question what if the beatles were a non event. I loved the film!

Yes, I enjoyed that too. Surprised that McCartney didn’t get a cameo in it.
