I love my 45's for the treble.
Yep, I’m certainly enjoying it. I’m not going to go all flowery prose about the sound as most of you, having used 45s at some point already know about that.

I’m dumbstruck how quick.
It’s just me Paul. Part of my mental health profile I’m afraid.
I get the bit between my teeth and that’s it; there’s no stopping me. I’ve probably spent 30 out of the 48 hours that made up the weekend, hunched over a soldering iron and testing and rejecting different scenarios, so much so that I ran out of solder yesterday and had to call on our Ant for some more.
The result was (for once) well worth the effort. And the missus got complete control of the telly for the whole weekend, so everybody’s happy.

Sounds perfectly fine to me. You wanted to do something, you had the parts on hand to do it, you did it. What would have been improved by taking longer?

Not a lot. It would just have taken a bit longer for my hands to get shot to pieces.

EDIT.
Resistor removed from PSU.
See post below.

For me I would loose the 18r resistor. That will be putting a corner at 400hz that can't be doing any good.

OK, I'll sort that out.

Had me for a while there Steve, I was sat staring thinking I can't see an 18R resistor! :-?

I am in awe of your speed to complete this!!! Really impressive and I'm sure it sounds delightful :D :D :D

The Teflon cap is probably just right. The minor earlier LF roll off would probably not be missed, a grid choke would restore the lower base more importantly phase shift lowered. So trying that might sound better. I could bring two for us to try (when we’re permitted) but I have to take them home for my project.

Glad you’re respecting the 45’s.

Bet it’s toned and delicate.

Aye, it does sound lovely. It's the best sounding amp I've had on the Fane speakers. It really does make them sing.
Can't wait to bring it to the next Owston and play a boatload of "plinky plonk bollocks" (© Richard Dunn.) through it.

Sounds like a good plan Paul.
You've got to respect these old valves.
Aye, it's the tone that does it for me.

Well I'm so entranced with 45s, I just had to make a couple of plinky plonk playlists from my iTunes library to show 'em off.
Here's a few tracks from one of the lists: I'm impressed by the sheer unadulterated plinkyplonkyness of some of this stuff I'd forgotten I had

Seriously though, I feel privileged to be using these lovely old devices.
I’m back in the DHT club after a 10 year hiatus.
It’s down to the single driver speakers and their 100dB efficiency as much as it is to the 45s, as these speakers enable the best use of very low power amplification.
I should get the Black Gate cap today and Paul has posted the second pair of valves.
All I can say is thanks to Paul, my mystery benefactor  and Nick. So I should have 45 sound for the rest of my natural. Excellent! AT is a great place to be part of.

Thats great Steve, I find a couple of watts more than adequate too, i hope you still have it in one piece when we can have a session.. I would love to hear it.
