#1 toroidy se opt

Post by ed »

has anybody got any experience of the toroidy SE output transformers.

They seem awfully good value(cheap) for the spec. Probably not so cheap now we have to pay VAT on top and I'm guessing a good helping to HM customs.

an example:

Only one..... Twas single ended and it was awful. I'm going back a long way so very dim memory but it was shockingly bad.

No experience of their OPTs but a few mains trafos I've had seemed very well made.

Would we pay VAT? I don't know. But Falcon Acoustic's website says EU orders are VAT free now. Surely it should be the same the other way too?

Yes, they are sold at the minus UK vat rate, then when they are delivered the local EU VAT is added. The same the other way around.

Yep, but ed was talking about paying VAT twice I thought? Perhaps not.

Who can say what he was taking about. But it's not likely to be twice or none.

no no, not at all.... I was inferring that we buy at the non VAT rate and then HM customs applies the VAT but then adds there slice of pie because we allowed them to provide the service to us. Toroidy's price including VAT is only for those countries in the EU and not for us outsiders.

that's the gist of it Ray...

btw please excuse my misuse of the 'there', it should have been 'their', but by the time I noticed it the opportunity to edit had passed....

Probably saturating that’s a horrible sound. Get the gap right.
