Yes it had something special
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Yep.
The biggest regret I have is that I didn’t build a 45 amplifier, when you could still get them.
Oh well. No use whining about it now.
Onwards as they say.

It's not one of my regrets steve, the valves I've used over the years are better in my view,Cressy Snr wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 8:23 amYep.

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

I could probably lend indefinitely a pair Steve if you fancy a go with 45’s. Jonathan’s 45 on James speakers, one of best sounds I experienced. Loved it.Cressy Snr wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 8:23 amYep.

I may not get to it for a while, but that’s an offer too good to turn down.Paul Barker wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 7:53 am I could probably lend indefinitely a pair Steve if you fancy a go with 45’s. Jonathan’s 45 on James speakers, one of best sounds I experienced. Loved it.

And if you want no fuss in lighting the 45s up, get a pair of Andrew's VCCS boards. Getting some of the parts can be a bit tricky at times but if you're taking the long view, start now

Your 2A3 amp was the equal of the best 45 amps that I have heard with the possible exception of Jonathan's. Both listening sessions were magical - transcending normal judgements and are burnt into my memory...
The Western Electric 4211 of Pauls was another transcendental experience...
