I have not used this amp for ages.

I took it to Owston, but it did not get used because I somehow broke an anode pin on one valve, and I've only just found where I'd hidden the replacements.

This is the first time I've tried it with the new pre-amp, and it is sounding good. :D

BUM. :(

Looks like my last spare 832a is defective.

Must get some more stock. :)

Those valves with pins through the glass are always breaking.

Yeah, I think they are designed to be handled only once when installing them into the transmitter that they were designed for.

So that is what a GK-71 was really for.

Yes, and you see how they are in pairs.

A local Radio Ameter in Scarborough said he used to put a slice of bread between a pair of 813's to make toast.

On your 832's I've broken double figures of those. Just knock them and the glass breaks.

Oh how time flies - tempus fugit indeed.

So, not really a tweek, but I got the urge (cue DTB) to try 832a again, and use the passive pre with the whizzo electronic volume control I've had for some time. This passive pre did not have the required gain for MoFo, but with 832a it's no problem.

I chucked a freebe classical compilation CD into the Cambridge Audio CXC and I was surprised by what came forth through the baffles.

When Jean goes out later today I'll have a proper listening session. :D
