#1 dht heater supplies - again

I was musing about the trixy problem of high current filament supplies again...this may be silly so please bear with me.
I've had success with meanwell smps with Rod Coleman's boards in the past but they are very bulky and very greedy power wise(hot).
I've been playing with dc dc converters on soc chips and they are v.cool in many ways...I wondered if they might lend themselves to filament supplies.
Has anybody tried this and if so are they suitable or just too noisy, oh, and isolated enough?
