#1 Resistor composition?

Post by Dave the bass »

Sometimes on schematic you'll see certain resistor being specifically drawn as a Carbon type rather than a metal type. I'm stripping an old project and found Carbon 1K resistors I'd fitted a few years ago but I can't remember why they were spec'd as CC types.

MrL's V CCS boards have Carbon resistors spec'd in certain places too.

Pourquoi?

How long is a piece of string? :D

What are the two symbols then? Never heard of this before.

Grid stoppers should be carbon, or so I'm led to believe.

Usually 'CC' written next to the value.

^ Yes non-inductive but ONLY if carbon composite, which do not have spiral track. Carbon film does same as metal film etc.

Oh right CC or MF, etc., I thought you meant there's different component symbols. :D

Only assuming the string is measured in a straight line. If not it will be longer.
