I snapped off the voltage reg in the heater supply for my phono/pre.
I cant find anywhere local that sells lm1084 but can find other 5v regs local.
The LM is rated at 5a, only local ones i can find are 1a.
I can run these in paralell though right to double the max current?
But, what current capability would i need? My phono/pre are clones so i dont know what the 'official' reg spec from WD was.
The heaters power 3 ecc83, some relay switching, 2 led's, and maybe in future a 5687 buffer stage.
The regs are cheap so ill rust run 5 of them if needed but that might be overkill? None of it is at a stage where i can power it up so i cant take measurements and work out what the current draw actually is.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

You can't simply parallel up the regs. is it the 5v LM1084 or the adjustable ones you need?

Youi can but you need to use balancing resistors as each regs 5v will be different, so the higher 5v will end up passing all the current.Graeme wrote:Fixed 5v.Nick wrote:You can't simply parallel up the regs. is it the 5v LM1084 or the adjustable ones you need?
I thought you could? Internet search suggests you can.
Oh well, looks like ill have to order one in then.
