apologies for the naive question
is it acceptable practice to take a spur output from a regulated circuit, as in the diagram below. I wanted to know if taking 11 to 12v from the rail before it goes into the regulator might upset the regulators output.
the tx is 9v and the whole load will be no more than 50ma inclusive

I do it without any problem. Only problem would be if you pull enough current to drop the voltage below the point the regulator can regulate.
