#1 hv relay for slow start

Post by ed »

can anybody recommend a 12v low current relay for switching 560v secondary in a delay HT circuit.

Hi Ed.

If all you want is a slow startup of the HT and are (I presume) using SS rectification, then a 6D22S or EY500A TV damper diode in series with the output of the SS rectifier will give a 30 second ramp-up to the full HT.

The EY500A drops a little more voltage across itself than the 6D22S but both are fairly low drop devices. They will work on either 6.3V or 5V with no difference in output.

OTOH if it is specifically a delay relay you are looking for then feel free to ignore this.

I have some spare EY500As if you want some. No doubt Steve S will have some and is obviously a lot nearer than me.

thanks Phil, looks good although voltage is a tad over the one specified....

thanks Steve, the reason I'm using SS is I don't have room for a valve, frustratingly I have a box full of 6d22s.....

onwards

That voltage is AC so it will go higher for DC.

Think it's this one I use in Nick's power controller, supposed to be good for max. 400VAC switching, insulation strength 5kV betwen coil and contacts
