#1 What is SPICE
Hi-what is spice ?
Is it a programme for drawing out potential amp designs ?
Can anyone point me to a good (free ?) version. On Duncan amps there is a list of Spice programmes but get confused with a large choice.

Its a lot lot more than a drawing program, its a simulator

The simpilest I know of is LTSpice, and there are many valve models out there for it.

That link is for a Linux port, and I think you will find it a lot more daunting than LTSpice.

Yes, the link to Daves forum is a good one to follow. It might be a bit daunting at forst but I think LT is far away the simpilest, and its not a cut doen demo.
Most of the dircuits Andrew (L) has posted of phono stages has been with LT.
Its great for seeing the effects of changes to the RIAA values in a circuit.
There are a lot of valve models from Mr Bench, and again the Intact link is a good place to find them.
I have simple set of files to model the WAD phono stage, if anyone is interested in a place to start I can post them, and we could talk you through getting it working.

Also, if we all use the same sim, it's easy to swap files, share ideas and help each other. And if we get in a real pickle, there's always Steve Bench to the rescue. He's helped me with some "issues"
