Dave, I would be very interested in buying those. It will, however, depend on cost. I'll have a look on your site, see how much things are likely to be. I'm listening around 5 feet away (the furthest my room will allow - there's a big wardrobe after that). I'm fine with giving the speakers a HP filt...

I'm not keen on car audio stuff. It just tries to look a bit too flashy in my opinion.

Anyway, what would be the recomendation for near-field monitors, preferably from the Fostex line.

... or maybe I know that I wouldn't fit any of the other speakers in my room. Who knows?

I think we'd all like a couple of 18" drivers (or 15"), if we had the space.

I need some proper computer speakers anyway.

Sounds like you'll have to begrudgingly accept that title.

Just connected up the Chillinghams to my tripath amp, and the mid-basses (not big enough to be called woofers, are they?) to my back-up 50w/ch amp. With the bass on the Chillinghams, fatigue sets in pretty quick. Crossed over, they sound better, but still too forward for my liking (especially in the...

I see where you're comming from, but after hearing Phil's speakers, my heat it set on something similar. That said, there's plenty of well-documented designs out there for the Fostex drivers. I feel that, after using something unknown, a speaker where guidance is abundant could be nice. I've listene...

Fair enough. I'm leaning toward the FE103En, simply because it'll be happier in a ported box (compared to the FE126En). I can always add my trusty sub. It got a bit of a work-out yesterday, when I played a sweep starting at 10Hz... With the gain all the way up (accidentally, of course). Edit - it so...

I was brought up in Imperial measures. My primary school insisted on centimetres (is that even a unit?).

I work in millimetres, inches, feet and miles.

I only use millimetres because they're handily precise. My latest guitar cab was made in inches.

Hmmm... I'd be listening to them at around 75dB, less than 3 feet away. If I went up to the FE127E, would that help at all? Dave, that was the sort of thing I'm looking for. Chris PS - the problem is that, I can (from Europe Audio) order either the FE126En, which is designed for a back-loaded horn, ...

That's made a phenominal difference.

Just cut a pair of 3/4" pieces of the dowell (yeah, inches. I don't work in cm too well)

Treble's a lot crisper, and dispersion is miles better, but still sounds good on-axis.

I was thinking tuning for 60Hz seemed a good idea.

I seem to remember that took around 10 litres, and it gave a "shelf-like" lower end.

For around £60 per pair, I might consider it...

It was one of the power transistors. Forgot to mention that.

Put some new ones of those in, too.
