Testing 13E1s...

I've been wondering for a while about how to test/match 13E1s on a Hickok 539C...

Anyone tried measuring these on a Hickok?

Cheers

Re: Power Supply Caps

I'm after some cheap power supply capacitance @ 1000V min for my 813 PP amp.

I have 2 470u 500V BHC jobbies and would add another pair to obtain 235u @ 1000V for the other channel at a cost of about £50 but they're awaiting delivery for ages already at Farnell and who knows how long that will be ...

We had one once liked to sleep on top of a paraffin heater. His whiskers used to get singed at the ends where they hung over the front edge where the hot air comes out

So let me think about this ~ there's an electric motor that spins some blades which keeps the thing charged up?

Where's the energy for the motor come from?

That's the problem !

The inventors would (probably) have you believe it's perpetual motion.

I would love to believe it was true. :wink ...

Well - managed to fix this - noise was only on one channel.

Removed front panel and desoldered the pot (Metcal MX500 MX-DS1 - brilliant tool).

Two screws on back of pot - undid and removed back half of cover revealing rear wiper - compressed air clean whilst moving shaft, followed by tiniest ...

Re: Greetings!

Dartford sure is scarey after Tunbridge Wells, and yep that sort of music does not get much of an airing! Made a trip there right before Christmas and my client gave me all sorts of scarey stats abut the population there too.......but friendly enough :D :D
Scary is the right word - we used to ...

Not fickle - more practical - beer is 3 quid a pint in the Pantiles - its cheaper elsewhere!

Hi from another new (to here at least) member - Goudhurst....

I checked with my lads - both in the 6th form in TW - they seemed a bit indifferent to the indie scene in TW - said there were a couple they liked... mainly due to there being so many schools in the area with decent groups...

Daft question time ~ how do you go about getting one apart?
Good question - I don't know yet!

However, I'll take photos though I may crash and burn (have done many times before...)

With any luck, I'll be back in the workshop today or tomorrow and my replacement RK27s should be here later this ...

The alps pot in my WD pre II got noisy and all I did was spray inside using Caig deoxit through the little hole on the back and work the control back and forth, any contact cleaner thats safe on plastics should be ok and I've read of people using WD40 but I think that would leave a greasy film that ...

Noisy ALPS Blue Velvet pot...

Got a nice pre-amp with a noisy Alps (genuine) 3511 50KKX2 in it...

Anyone know a way of opening & dusting it, or is a new one the way to go?

If the answer is to replace, any suggestions for suppliers that are not selling fakes (I wouldn't trust eBay). Ideally, an identical part would be good as ...
