Heading north on the A1 today, blue sky, blue sea , just out of Berwick we passed a sign , left to Conundrum and then we flashed over into Scotland - makes you think, doesn't it!

Re: C3g Aikido Phono

I still need to source an adequate connector. Most give an AC rating rather than DC. Is is reasonable to convert an AC rating to give a DC rating? And if so the internet tells me VDC = VAC / (root 2). I thought it was VDC = VAC / (2 x root 2) - not something I want to get wrong!

DC is funny ...

Re: C3g Aikido Phono

I've used Hirschmann G30 series in the past - very good, locking (bolt through the middle) and a very reasonable price:

These are nominally industrial valve control connectors ...

Hmm. Is that 500V pin-to-pin or pin-to-case?

Re: 6.3v indirectly heater valve PCB (possible group buy?)

You can also run the pre-regulator sense wire to the base of the secondary regulator - it's not a Kelvin connection, but is the generally accepted way of ensuring the right voltage is delivered to where it's being used.

Twisting the appropriate wires and screening the umbilical also can help, as ...

Re: 6.3v indirectly heater valve PCB (possible group buy?)

Pretty sure the reverse protection diode, D1, is not needed in this use case - the LT1085 datasheet is pretty clear. Also, for stability the regulator output cap, C6, is specified at a minimum of 22uF solid tantalum or 150uF Aluminium electrolytic - the capacitor multiplier will not be involved in ...

After many many years of faithful service, my Peak DCA 55 and LCR 40 are being replaced with the newer versions... I need the higher test current of the DCA 75 Pro, particularly for thyristors, so took advantage of an offer and upgraded both.

The existing ones, which are in perfect condition ...
