Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?
A random pick from the “B” LP box.... whether they were a supergroup or a few primadonna’s is another matter.

A collection of “white” papers regarding the design of the Grimm LS1 subwoofer, another one of Bruno’s creations. I will leave it up to you to filter the sales from the science. https://www.grimmaudio.com/publications/loudspeaker-technique-white-papers/ The mechanics and vibration I am fine with, I ...

Green hydrogen, there’s an oxymoron if ever I saw one :D Never mind green there is grey and blue Hydrogen too :D I assume the transmission losses for transferring electricity from solar farms in Africa is higher than the conversion losses to make Hydrogen, Definitively more efficient than pumping w...

Motion Feedback - is it going to something in DIY we can benefit from
Was reading this interesting article, with modern sensors it maybe something we can benefit from in the not to distant future, if you can bring yourself to have feedback in your amps.

Re: Wood pellet stove.
Similar reasons to my mother in law with her stove. Hers is a multifuel stove, so she now uses a mixture of wood and smokeless ovals( posh coal). She can add the ovals to the stove and it will go all night. Her logic is she only has maybe 10 years max left on her mortal coil, and the consequences of...

Re: Wood pellet stove.
Time is the factor in all of this. Big trees absorb CO2 now, yes a sapling will absorb CO2 in the future. This is why biomass is very quick growing stuff, willow etc which is harvested on a short growth cycle, so the effect in the time period is neutral. We just shouldn’t be cutting good trees down ...

Re: Wood pellet stove.
All fossil fuels generally give off the same C02 when burnt, it’s just we make ourselves feel better by offsetting the CO2 against living trees, as a fallen tree that rots gives off the same amount of C02. The traditional firewood which came from pollarding and fallen problem trees which needed remo...

Re: Wood pellet stove.
I thought most wood pellets were coming from the USA. Wood pellets are no longer a byproduct of the wood working industry, good timber is being cut to make pellets. You might as well buy coal it’s as green. Whilst the cost to transport is low the tariff for bringing stuff around the world wont be si...

Strange you should mention this place... just back from visiting the mother-in-law, who lives there...Richard Higgins wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 9:56 am Best wishes for 2022 to all.
We can live in Hope.
It's a small village in Derbyshire.

Getting rid of my NAS drive - sensible?
Being the only person in the house now who listens to the music stored on the server, I was wonder whether I should retire the music server. I listen to music via an NUC on which I have Dalphile installed. What I was thinking was to put all the music on the server onto an SSD drive which I will inst...

Yes I have been reading the same threads to.. I am not sure about the circles of doom, I think you need the surface area to make them work properly. I am not sure what the polar plots will look like. I have been trying to understand these better... to see if the downsides of the ripole can be desig...

Re: Wood pellet stove.
10% more efficiency than a log burner... fuel 100% more expensive, subsidies run out for making wood pellets soon I think. Know someone who runs a wood chip boiler for his swimming pool, it was free fuel until the biomass power stations, started to pay for chippings off the tree surgeons around us.

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop
Yes - I have the midrange AMT’s which cover 300hz to 4000hz. So technically that’s better than have a crossover at 1000hz, but I do wonder if for the midrange, the surface area of a 12” driver will have its benefits. To many options, the current arrangement sounds good...but would the Beymas TPL’s s...

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop
Did an additional test on the TPL’s today- some suggestions that adding a flat face will increase the LF extension. Did this - no affect what so ever on the response. Was expecting to see something, in the FR but no. So it looks that with my horn a 1000hz is as low as I can really go. 64AF95BC-A900-...
