Re: ADC input Nadja for Vinyl.

No quality analogue source - but a Walkman doesn’t sound too bad :) . Looking at the impedance, it’s 10k input into the Preamp/DSP. The project RS phono has an output impedance of 50 ohms, so shouldn’t be an issue there. The vinyl one with its cathode follower output stage will be a lot higher, whic...

Re: ADC input Nadja for Vinyl.

I may see if I have another analogue source which works that I can try - that then takes the RIAA out of the equation too.

Re: ADC input Nadja for Vinyl.

Not sure really - I played with an M-Tec Joplin phonostage a few years back which was feed in via Spdif. It sounded better than my vinyl one phonostage. The ADC in the DSP is integral https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/76/CS42428_F1-33496.pdf. I know there is a school of thought that anything better...

ADC input Nadja for Vinyl.

I have kicking this around for a few months in my head. The weak link with the Nadja DSP is it’s ADC, as I am playing more vinyl these days I thought I would upgrade the input. The best sounding digital input it has is via I2s, so I thought that would be the most appropriate, I have 3 spare inputs t...

Re: A unipivot made from scrap

I don’t think your finish is too far off the mark- depends how long it took to get to that surface finish. Are you using the truepoint jewel and carbide tips as the unipivot? As at this price point there aren’t many jewelled arms. For the edge over the competition, maybe you need to look at more exo...

Re: A unipivot made from scrap

What I forgot to mention yesterday- was a good cueing system can save on needing a finger lift, and in the case of the NA approach they don’t have a clamp to hold the arm when it’s not in use. Re: A unipivot made from scrap

I think for a commercial version of your arm, ease of use needs to be up there with SQ. The one thing I have a bugbear about is cueing on the record, I think the Nottingham space arm approach with its quadrant lifter, with the rubber block underneath the arm is the best I have used on any tonearm. I...

Re: Budget DSP Options

You could boost the LF by using a bigger capacitor (1000uf). It will give you about 4 db gain.. if that’s enough.

Re: Budget DSP Options

Depending on what you mean by budget the Hypex units which are basically a plate amp with a DSP built in are good value. (Cheap compared to a Lake :) ) Troels has been using them for the bass duties on a number of his more recent speakers such as this http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/Ekta-2D.htm. If I w...

Re: Sars-Cov-2 stuff

For an asthmatic it feels uncomfortable, but not as uncomfortable as wearing a woodworking or spray mask, which I do regularly. When you think that health care people are wearing masks for 12 hrs - you cannot complain. They are wearing fp3 masks to which are even harder to breath in. Again we should...

Re: Sars-Cov-2 stuff

You also need to consider that the vaccine does work for around 5% of the population, this is why they are developing the alternatives, for this minority, and until you have the antibody test you won’t know. However I agree to some of the sentiment being discussed, this week an overweight person in ...

Don’t forget - India haven’t agreed to any climate change targets before 2050, so maybe the internal market makes economic sense.

It’s only 6 years- so Kiki fit can sell you a 5 year old tyre, and you can only legally drive it for 1 year.

Re: Nothing In Particular

There are date stamped, and all tyres after a time have to be changed (8 years?) issue for trailers and low usage vehicles. Interesting the winter tyres I use are classed as secondhand and come from Austria - where it is mandatory to fit snow tyres and they can only be used for a single season, so w...

Re: Nothing In Particular

I have had pilots in the past which weren’t that good in the wet. I generally went for low rolling resistance, as was putting 15k on them just going into the office. With working from home my mileage is now about 6k, for everything, so maybe I consider an all season tyres and don’t bother about roll...
