Suggestions for a SE amplifier to build
Hi All, I have been using a 2A3 PP amplifier for some time and been ver happy. However, I recently bought a pair of WAD 300B PSE monoblocks and having tamed the hum concluded SE was the way to go (I guess I am just a bit slow). The problem with the WAD amplifiers is that I didn't build them! So I am...

Hi Each stage channel is drawing approx 24mA and I am using 500R cathode resistors. So I calculate that the cathode is sitting at 12V, right? The grid is coupled to 0V via a 1M grid leak resistor. Unfortunately now my ignorance kicks in, I think my heaters are still at 0V? Maybe I should lift them? ...

I just tied the heaters to 0V and was greated with blissful silence no more hum :D . I am amazed just how much noise was coming through given that I am using DC voltage regulated heaters. I would love to know where the noise come from? However, whatever the answer I am chuffed, now I can listen to m...
Hi Will, I said I seem to work on a geological timescale! I also want to thank you for a very enjoyable evening when you brought your turntaqble round to my house and we made the unfortunate discovery that my suspended floor had much in common with a drum skin!! You certainly gave me much to think a...

Hi Each triode has a 1K grid stopper soldered tight on the pin of the valve socket. The circuit is based on the one shown on the triode systems website (I would post the link but do not seem able until I have posted more than a few times). With regard to lifting the heaters, how high would you sugge...

Quiet HT PSU for 12B4A Linestage
Hi, all, This is my first thread on the forum so hello. I am currently struggling with hum in my newly built 12B4A linestage and I do not think the PSU is optimised. It consists of a seperate PSU chassis with a Hammond 350-0-350 trafo into a 5U4G rectifier then Hammond choke, 220uf cap hammond choke...
Hi All
I have been meaning to register here for ages, indeed ever since Will Cowen let me in on the address, which was months ago! My current system is a DIY Hifi supply Joplin 2A3 PP amplifier, DIY CD player (based on CD-pro2M) with TDA1541A DAC and valve output stage. I am currently messing around with l...
