Why do compilation albums and best of albums on vinyl always sound crap compared to the actual albums the tracks come off? I presume it's because they cram on more tracks than is optimal and remix them to have less frequency extremes to make more space on the disc?

Cant you tell I'm bored....

after getting told off for storing records incorrectly, I've rectified that. Made a storage unit type thing for the ones that are out which also allows me to set up 3 decks. Just made from scrap mdf i had stored. nothing special, just routed out grooves for the shelves to fit into, and corner braced...

I've had some monster speaker cable for almost 20 years now, it gets incrementally shorter when I disconnect it for whatever reason, realise its all tarnished where its connected to the binding posts and re terminate it. I should probably change it, but then again why bother. Might try the amazon st...

It just seems to use a pair of opposing magnets to lift the platter so it isn't running on a hardened ball or bearing shaft end in the bottom of the bearing housing, but it still runs a bearing that is a shaft as normal with a set of liners

Cool, baerwald alignment by the looks of it with those null points I've been pratting about with alignment protractors this morning, there was something off with the 301 that I couldn't put my finger on.
