Re: Another one gone.

Maybe not a superstar but certainly a big influence in the electronic scene. His 'Planets' played a part in getting me to reassess classical music.

Re: Green DAC TDA1541

Phil, it's i2s.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%C2%B2S It's a protocol for transferring PCM data, originally designed for chip to chip. It keeps the data and clock signals separate, which is why it should perform better than spdif. However, I2S really needs to be used for short connections, say 10c...

Re: Green DAC TDA1541

Phil, if you want to be a bit more ambitious consider hooking up the DAC to the Denon with an I2S interface - it'll sound better than spdif. A pair of twistedpear teleporters should take care of the send/receive. There's some info here; http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/forum/posts/t2300findunread-Buf...

Dave, I've sent you a PM.

For interest, here's an image of the CLC board layout.

Re: MJ Statistical Regulator PCBs

Dave, it is a CLC board that I had made up for some of my own projects. I made the board flexible; it has pads for an IsoPac bridge rectifier and can be cut down to be used in sections. Here I've used two of the boards (one cut down) for the CLCLC filter for one of my 300B OTL amps. http://i1298.pho...

Have a look at the first 10secs or so of this clip; it looks suspiciously like circles of valve envelopes with a few LEDs thrown in.

Re: Owston what are you bringing?

All being well I hope to get along for the Saturday. If I do I'll bring at least one of my no-dac DACs. In case you're confused, this is DSD-only playback without using a conventional DAC chip of any sort. I'll also bring along a PC running HQPlayer so that I have some DSD to play but can also use i...

Funnily enough I did a very similar geography/geology field trip just a few years earlier - must have had the same syllabus. The tutor seemed ...
