Now my power amp has common cathode 6em7 stage 2 on input with CGP 10pf CGK 7 pf even if stage gain is only 40 input capacitance is 417pf.
So we have a problem. Enter the opamp or a CF stage.

OK the pdf of the DAC is here It states that the minimum AC load is 1k the minimum DC load is 1k5 and the maximum capacitive load is 25pf. with which information we can plan. Now I don't know what the capacitance of your typical interconnect is, but if we put this DAC on our power amp and hotwire it...

Oddly I don't recall other people enthusing about Peters phono stage, perhaps one or at most two said something after the event, but as far as I recall I am the only person who has persistently praised it. Forgive me if there is another. This implies I may be wrong. But my memory of the audience's f...

Sorry I need to explain myself more fully. Don't forget I have always stayed clear of the low level domain. When I had mc cartridges I found a good transformer to do the lift and went with MM levels thereafter. That worked well for me was simple so I stuck with that. Once at the MM level there were ...

Thanks for the link Phil. My experience of cheap low level transformers is not worth it. With transformers you can make things worse very easily. How come otl amps sound so good? Not against transformers, just when they are used they must be properly matched, have sufficient primary L (which those d...

Better than the Laptop's DAC by quite a margin. B...

That Oestex article is brilliant. So for the 807 you need a 50% seperate winding and supply it with 300v the Plate with 600v. I wouldn't go to the extreme of the 813. Perhaps the kt88 family but be aware that unless it is an original kt88 most of the modern production are some homgenised kt88 6550 s...

Ground source heat pump into underfloor heating at 35 degrees C. An additional benefit from Underfloor heating is that it feels comfortable at a lower room temperature than convection as it warms you gradually feet first as the heat rises evenly throughout the room past your body. Convection radiato...

If you are not on mains gas it is viable. If you have solar PV it is a no brainer, particularly if there is space for a huge buffer tank. Rather than export the pv generated to the grid and be paid 3 pence per kilowatt hour use it to store the energy for when the sun is not out. like in the evening ...
