Re: Zero emission road vehicles.
I remember watching Long Way Up https://www.longwayup.com/ a while ago and they do have significant issues charging and using their Harley Davidson prototype electric bikes on the trip from Argentina to LA. Argentina in winter was pretty cold and the charging infrastructure not up to the task. The b...

Re: Zero emission road vehicles.
We flew out from Manchester for a quick getaway over Christmas and the experience, which is usually dire at best, has been improved by the use of the new 3D scanners. Luckily for us we got shunted into the one line that went through the new scanners as it appears to be a "trial" at present...

Re: Zero emission road vehicles.
Well, I've had my "company" (leased) EV for about 4 weeks now and I can say without a doubt I am very pleased. The driving experience is just so different to an ICE. I'd never driven an EV before so didn't know what to expect but once I'd turned off the "one pedal driving" (a ste...

Re: USB interfaces and clocks
Well, in my case I don't have any USB as I am using Squeezeboxes, which have I2S available. However, if you're using a USB to I2S converter then yes, then that is the source of the clock(s) and data for I2S so its from there it is the "weak link" as they are logic level signals, not intend...

Re: USB interfaces and clocks
I am assuming Tony means LVDS as in the "low-voltage differential signaling" interface. So a transmitter/receiver pair with a pair between them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-voltage_differential_signaling Yes, exactly. I used these modules as it was simpler at the time: https://magna...

Re: USB interfaces and clocks
I used to get very focused on I2S jitter and clocks/reclocking and I have tried a couple of different implementations over the years but now I realize that it's less about jitter as such and more about noise and grounding. Introducing more electronics into the chain sometimes just makes matters wors...

Re: Side Projects
I've had some Ebay/Aliexpress "Alps Blue" that I think are probably fake as they're so cheap. However they sound better than Alps Blue to me.
Might be worth a try Mike? They are dirt cheap. If I can dig one out I'll send it over to yo to try.
