Hi Yes, it certainly does, it had crossed my mind, but assumed that would not happen. So I can see two failure scenarios: 1. If data was corrupted I would want to reinstall the data from a backup. 2. If a drive failed I would need to replace the drive and again reload the data from a backup. I under...

I cannot see me having a requirement for transcoding as all I want to do is save FLAC files to the server and serve the same files to the streamer. Thanks for the info on RAID, I am not very familiar with this world, though I thought RAID1 simply mirrored the 2 drives and therefore the second drive ...

Hi I am also looking at the Zyxel to use with rapsberry pi Volumio streamer, either as UPnP or possible directly via USB. I want a 2 bay version with Raid backup (I cannot bear the thought of having to copy over 800 CD's again!). I see the NSA3205 2 bay 1Ghz processor version can be had for as littl...

The transformers (there are several) are being used to supply 'raw' DC via an umbilical cable to a separate box where the 'raw' DC goes through super-regulators to generate +5V, -5V and -15V for a TDA1541a DAC. There are also transformers to generate a raw approx 130V and 9V. These supplies again ar...

Toroidal transformer positioning
Hi, I am trying to squeeze a lot of PSU parts into a case (larger case is not an option that I want to pursue). One way of getting everything in is to mount the rather large smoothing caps on a board just above the transformer. The gap would be tiny. Alternatively I could explore stacking two toroid...

Hi Ray, Yes that correct. To recap: I have a Raspberry Pi (flashed with Raspbian Wheezy) programmed with the Asset UPnP server software from DB poweramp. This Pi is in the hall and is connected to a 2TB NTFS drive and to our Wireless internet router via an ethernet cable. I have a second Pi with a E...

Plugplayer works and doesn't stop after the first track on an album. However, it does stop at the end of a track if my I-phone goes to sleep and locks itself. I have had a fix suggested for this. The fix being to run Bubble UPnP server in parallel on the same pi that is running Asset server. I had a...

Thanks Ray, I will try that. Apparently the Kinsky App issue can be fixed by running BubbleUPnP server on the same Pi that is running the Asset UpnP software. However, this is not straightforward as I have to configure it to boot at switch on, which is currently beyond me! So I will try Plug player ...

On playing further with the Linn Kinsky App, its not too brilliant it keeps loosing Volumio for some reason and only plays the first track of an album then stops. Google indicates that others have found the same thing, it doesn't recognise that Volumio (or other non-Linn) players have finished a tra...

Blimey Ray, That was easy! I downloaded an App called Kinsky by Linn and it auto detected both Volumio and the Dbpoweramp UPnP server, and it appears to work! Though the Linn App doesn't seem very intuitive. I will keep randomly pressing buttons and eventually look for the guidance notes So I am usi...
