Re: Cannibalizing Speakers for New Experiments
The purpose of the Sub Woofer is to build a OB, learn a little about cross overs, and use the OB Sub Woofer in a future OB Full Range Speaker. [/img]

Re: Cannibalizing Speakers for New Experiments
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, It would seem that I have chosen a speaker with a good selection of drivers than can be used in other designs, even though not best suited to some of my ideas. I have been recently been offered the loan on a 8" Tang Band, 8" Fostex and ...

Cannibalizing Speakers for New Experiments
Hi Again I have taken the plunge and bought a used pair of speakers. The Drivers are from Audax HD-3P, HM130CO, HM210CO. The enclosure is much larger than the usual size these drivers are witnessed in. The cross overs are external to the cabinets and all components are visible behind a mesh covered ...

Re: Sub Woofer
A little bit of used driver pre purchasing at a discount price against new should be OK. I,ll then have something tangilble I can scratch my head at, whilst awaiting for the show in June. I have had a fumble around the web to get a overview of a few driver orientaions, I have seen a modular system t...

Re: Sub Woofer
Thank you Simon for your list of components and Baffle Dims. Please note I am a numpty on the design principles, so some of my queries may show this. Does expanding on the width of this front baffle improve performance as 450mm sounds easthetically room friendly ? They would be sitting in front of m...

Re: Sub Woofer
I have another question in relation to this Full Range OB Project. Is the suggested drivers compatible with a 3 way system, Can the Fostex 167e and Eminance 15" be mounted on their own separate baffle, as I do intend on a future project where a individual baffle will have 2 Bass units, 1 Mid Ra...

Re: Sub Woofer
I would very much enjoy creating a Open Baffle full range, I am more than capable with a power tool, and can quite happily solder a banana plug. I would say beyond this I am not adept, so cross over assembly and reading a schematic are not familiar ground. Any advice or offer of a service to do this...

Re: Sub Woofer
I have read the replies, to my request for a little bit of guidance on the Sub woofer subject. I offer a Thank You for the help I received. I have got the point that a Sub woofer has not got a lasting valued impression on certain individuals, so any ideas forwarded as a suggestion to guide me are be...

Re: Sub Woofer
Thank you for your replies and the encouragement. Firstly I do not have a preferance for a Brand or a DIY attempt. The appearance does not matter in the initial stages, as for wife friendly, my darling, lovingly calls the esl 57 the " wash boards ". I think a Big OB will look great with a ...

My first post beyond my introduction to the forum, here goes. I have many wishes when it comes to speakers I want to experiment with, Stacked Quads as I own 50% of that set up. I also want to start the investigation and collection of drivers to build a 3 way open baffle speaker. I would like to begi...
