Re: Nothing In Particular
I am glad that’s over….. bad enough having to go to the mother in laws for Christmas, but last Friday was asked to bring my chainsaw to remove a branch that had fallen across her drive. Arrive Sunday afternoon to be confronted by a 60ft beech tree across the drive. So have spent most of my festive b...

Re: Zero emission road vehicles.
If the insurance company write it off, and you repair it - it puts up your premiums, well it did 18 years ago when someone ran reversed out of their drive into the side of me whilst I was waiting in traffic. Ideally I should have repaired it, but I need a car for work, so went for what I thought was...

Re: Zero emission road vehicles.
I went for another dirty diesel, when my perfectly good repairable car was scrapped off. I wasn’t switched on to what the insurers and government are doing, taking old cars off the road. Maybe I should have bought the car off them, and replaced the bonnet and grill, but the insurers would have screw...

Re: what are you doing ?
Think my head is going to explode… Trying to source a secondhand car after mine was written off ( non structural damage). Apparently now with VAG cars on certain models if it’s not specified when the car is built that you might want to fit a tow bar, the cars come with a VIN plate with GTW =zero. As...

Re: what are you doing ?
Been trying to extract 40 ltrs of diesel from my tank before the salvage company come to collect my damaged car, without any success. Antisphyon devices stop my putting the transfer pipe down the fuel filler pipe. Tried disconnecting the fuel feed pipe under the back seat and connecting the transfe...

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop
Haven’t done much to my speakers since the WAM show, added some spikes to them last weekend. Repurposed some brass door stops to support the spikes as outriggers…. £2.50 each from tool station.

Re: My Kubelik DAC Build
Interested as looking at replacing my Amanero board with the JLsounds board. Did you power the JLsounds board with its own 3.3/5v feeds or are you relying on the power from the USB? Cannot see any wires on the photos but they could be underneath.

Re: USB interfaces and clocks
Okay think i am understanding now, so you basically put the USB converter in the streamer, convert to HDMI and feed those twisted pairs to the DAC via an HDMI signal. Putting 2 more devices in the path though I see a benefit if we are saying the USB cable is the weak link in the digital chain.

LVDS cable - same as ribbon cable, or is it something different. I am using some ribbon cable for raspberry pi stuff with the pin connectors on each end (7 cm)

Re: USB interfaces and clocks
I suppose I can put the I2S board ( which ever one I go for) on the 2.5mm pins of the DAC/DSP board. I didnt as the pin call outs weren’t common :x. But can work out some crossover pin arrangement. Will end up having longer wires to the I2S board, but an extra 200mm in a 1m usb cable, when you use u...

Re: USB interfaces and clocks
70mm is probably shorter than the DAC boards input pins to the chip. I take it from your comment that shielded cable isn’t necessary?

Re: USB interfaces and clocks
Car is in the insurance companies hands now, so can refocus on audio. The other card people rave about is https://luckit.biz/. But I am not sure as the galvanic ground isn’t in the right place. The system I heard that kicked off this was using a mutec to reclock and feed into spdif. In my mind the s...
