Re: Gear Box Rantings
So I’m guessing that double de-clutch heel-and-toe gear changes are a thing of the past?
Well in this case that is the goal. The bike gearbox should enable clutchless shifting assuming everything else plays along. In most other cases I will likely find myself in heel-and-toe is definitely a ...

Re: EL33 I’ll sell this pair on eBay
Yep, the gm is probably a bit low to drive the 300b directly. so should work, cant see why not.

Re: Gear Box Rantings
This project is still progressing. The prototype board actually got to move some things last week when it was connected to the pneumatic cylinder that's connected to the gear lever on the engine, and the throttle pull cylinder in the throttle cable (to do engine blips when changing down). Also ...

Yes, uuF is pF. And that input capacitance is more than low enough for audio use. Though I guess the quoted figure is for pentode operation. I would expect it to be higher as a triode.

Re: MOBIFO
I would add a smaller resistor under the emitter if you want to add a bit of degeneration to help stabilize idle current.

Re: MOBIFO
Yes, I saw that on the spec sheet but wasn't certain. I guess a pair of back to back zeners on the input (GS) would be the way to be safe.

Re: MOBIFO
Well, its still got an insulated gate, so excess voltage will punch through that layer. I have found the ixys depletion mosfets are much better than the supertex, but they are still sensitive to static, but I have found them very reliable once in circuit. I use them as current sources and sinks.

Re: MOBIFO
Every time to add a new sensor you add a new thing that can go wrongYep, you shouldn´t neglect Murphy´s law. You would need a few sensors with relays to cover up.

Re: MOBIFO
How do you recommend to connect them, just between gate and source?
Yes.
That must cover the heater warm up phase?
I always assume that the universe will conspire to reject that at least once when I am not paying attention. (brown outs, power cuts, etc in the case of start up protection). And ...

Re: MOBIFO
With a valve on the front I would also make sure the mosfets gate is protected from startup voltage.

Re: Amp No 46
No, I was saying that any resonance between the inductive anode load and the coupling capacitor will be damped by the resistance of the valves internal resistance (and the grid resistance the coupling cap is connected to). If you remember your physics, the behavior of any LCR system can be ...

Re: Amp No 46
Did you mean to type 18uF and 300H? 300ohm will not resonate with a capacitor.

Yes, but it could lead one to ignore the symptoms for longer than would be ideal. But MS.... stress and money making - pull the other one.
Due to excessive work and my desire to make more and more money

Re: Amp No 46
The coupling cap/anode choke is far less likely to have any resonant peak as its damped by the ra of the valve. The one I am talking about is between the inductance in the anode and the capacitance in the cathode which are in series via the power supply.
