Re: Free schematic/board tools...
A couple of years ago I needed to make some pcbs so I looked at what software was available these days. My colleague uses Eagle but he's had it for years and so has a license that is not the subscription model. He loves Eagle and it does look very good but I didn't want to pay that much, or anything...

Re: Owston meet, 21 & 22nd Oct '23
I have booked in at the Hall for the Friday night so will hopefully make it for beer, food and chat!
Saturday only for me please Steve.
I have the two RTZ DACs/Streamers that I can bring along, plus the CD Pro front-end if there are CDs flying around.

Re: Yay! New toy
Lovely neat job tony! Very nice, Tony. Are you bringing it to Owston? Thanks guys! Now if only I get can a "shoddy" from DTB! I did build the 2nd streamer, using the Transporter with an "ear" to bringing along to Owston. Since it has digital inputs and I have a CD transpor...

Re: Yay! New toy
And now full cicrle: LVDS module installed and hooked up to the I2S from the Transporter after being converted from Left Justified. The Transporter is now capable of outputting from the TDA1541A for the classic sound or can be connected to the outboard DAC for DSD reproduction. https://i.ibb.co/VNP6...

OK, almost completed now! https://i.ibb.co/FsDRbxc/NewDac.jpg https://i.ibb.co/W35xRvc/IMG-20230805-165124.jpg And the two RTZ DACs / Streamers together: https://i.ibb.co/rM3b8FH/IMG-20230805-171811.jpg I still have to do some panel-work on the transporter to fit the LVDS module to the back panel. P...

Re: Yay! New toy
Very little progress on the casing so far. I _have_ been slowly making the 3d printed sub-structures to help with the fitting. This is a test fit to ensure that my drilling templates (the thin blue 3 printed parts) are correct. It seemed easier to make some templates and then drill/file up to them, ...

Re: Yay! New toy
OK, I have now assembled the "simplified" version of the filter board, as created by Ray and powered up. https://i.ibb.co/nn7B2QH/IMG-20230714-171547.jpg This simplification removes the final high pass filter stage with its coupling caps. With very little DC offset I am hopeful that this w...

Re: Yay! New toy
Right, all-change - again! After my recent experiences with the RTZ DAC and finding out how good that is, I decided to leap-frog on my currently "main" system and build yet another RTZ DAC, this time to go along with the modded Transporter. However, with all the work I did on the TDA1541A ...

Re: General health matters.
Went in yesterday for surgery on 2 hernias. All in all a very efficient and caring process. The amount of time to wait from admission to actually going to theatre was long (7 hours) but that's down to the sheer number of people needing treatment and the lack of resources so I can only have the utmos...

Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC
It is _so_ good I am going to build another one! 8) I don't know if people remember my Transporter based TDA1541 based DAC at the 2nd to last Owston? Well, I didn't want to disturb that one as is sounded so nice, hence I built the RTZ DAC into the reclaimed case that my original Pedja Rogic DAC was ...

As Paul said, I think I'd suspect that LCR PSU cap since it is common to both channels. Might be on its way out.

Re: New Dilemma
Some tidying up to do but it's in the case, working and sounding great!
My friend is going to lasercut a piece of acrylic for me to cover up the existing engraving on the front panel as now that is no longer valid.

"SCAD"ed design of the fit and 3d printed parts to act as mounts: https://i.ibb.co/Dz1LBbq/Test1.jpg I have the small pcb now to make good the connection from SB Receiver to the PCM2DSD board. https://i.ibb.co/1Qc2jGz/IMG-20230311-172904.jpg 3d parts printing, hopefully I can get this all ...
