Thanks all, some nice ideas there. I suspect a visit to Ikea may be forthcoming, even if we do always end up spending £100 more than we intended!

Record storage.

I appreciate that visual aesthetics aren't always the primary concern round here, but most of us live with people whose priorities differ from ours when it comes to audio in the sitting room. With that in mind, what clever solutions have people come up with to the problem of storing 200+ vinyl album...

Now that's interesting. I thought (although I'm probably mistaken) that 829 was a direct equivalent of QQV07-50, which works really well in Philip's 832 amp, and hopefully will in mine when I finish it.

IIRC, Peter Comeau's dad had one of those.

Now not many people know that.

I always wondered why we had so many coal scuttles.

That old ever-ready torch she had was something else though...

I love the convertible version (sorry, going back to Zodiacs here). when I was a little boy we lived round the corner from Frank Hampson, who used to draw Dan Dare in the Eagle. His wife had a turquoise one with a white roof. I thought it was the most glamourous thing I'd ever seen!

Aha! So if 829s benefit from higher HT, does the same apply to QQV070-50? They're supposed to be a drop-in replacement. If I use the 260v windings on my mains tx instead of 200v, what else do I have to change to compensate? (Showing my woeful ignorance here, but if you don't ask, you don't learn).

OK, leading on from that, in Phil's version there is a 10H inductor in the supply. How vital is that (I don't have any!) and could it be replaced by a resistor?

I'm working at the limits of my meagre knowledge of theory here...
