Re: General health matters.

I was not happy with my new blood pressure medication, and had previous contact with the surgery, even having an ECG. No problems were found. Still not happy, I saw another Doctor this morning, and he says the new medication was having the same effect as my usual pill, and was in fact doubling up on...

Yes, but ------

I would also avoid the Cloud if possible, but in some cases (like this forum) it's unavoidable.

I've got a few tucked away somewhere, kept for reference, but probably not relevant now. :(

The cloud.

Google Drive users have reacted angrily to a glitch leaving some unable to access files from the last six months.

Google said it was investigating the issue which is affecting some users of its hugely popular cloud storage service.

Re: 833A (GU-48) Amp

You are right Mike. You did a lot of work to help me in the amps early days and I thank you again. Of course, it would be wrong not to mention Nick, whose guiding hand and expert knowledge has helped all that have been in need of advice, and also Paul. Nor to forget those who have been enthusiastic...

Re: 833A (GU-48) Amp

Can you remember if my version sounded "inferior" on the day ? Be as honest as you like. not the best, but not cheap crap either. In the company of the Tributes, they are effectively cheap crap though unfortunately. If Paul reads this, Paul, if you ever decide to sell the Tributes can I h...

I seem to remember once we were playing with an idea to drive the 833 with an EL34 or something? But didn't work out... You are right Mike. Re: 833A (GU-48) Amp

OK. I had my 833a amp at Owston at the same time you and Paul displayed your joint version. I think my version stood up quite well, my OPT are Hammond 1642SE, not the best, but not cheap crap either. Can you remember if my version sounded "inferior" on the day ? Be as honest as you like. :)

Re: 833A (GU-48) Amp

Thanks. Although I do have a few U19 I'm going to stick with 6D22s damper diodes in a hybrid bridge. As the HT will be similar to the last iteration (950 - 1050v) I'm happy to keep with what seemed to work fine. Nick's suggestion re making the grid more positive may just be what is needed to get the...

Re: 833A (GU-48) Amp

If it is 200ma, then if the B+ is 950v then the valve is dissipating 190W. Should be enough for most purposes. If you want to get closer to 300W, try adding some nicad batteries between the interstage secondary and ground to push the grid positive for display purposes, assuming the power supply is ...

Re: 833A (GU-48) Amp

Going by data sheet graph it should be 200ma.

The OPT should max out at 300ma.

Re: 833A (GU-48) Amp

To increase current through the valve (not the filament) increase the voltage on the grid and run in A2. That may happen in the future when I get round to building the buffer that James D designed for me. Input to a 112A triode with Hammond 126C interstage then buffer to grid. It will then run in A2.

Re: 833A (GU-48) Amp

Just to remind, the 833a (GU48) grid is driven by my KT66 (trioded) SET amp using a 5K - 200R interstage.

The interstage also has a 600R tap and I cant remember why I ended up using the 200R one.
