I have lost track slightly, but if you are now looking at 2A3/6B4G -> IT -> 300B, then don't forget the gain of the 2A3.
To drive the 300b, I think you only need about +/- 20V at the grid of the 2A3.
Playing with the load line calculator for the 2A3 driver, with a reasonably high impedance ...

Does the schematic imply that the matching speakers would have used field coils? And if so, does that have any implications if used with conventional speakers?

This is from memory many years ago, so might be wrong…
At the base of the arm mounting is a large ring/cylinder with knurled plastic or rubber covering. You rotate that to change the height. But you need to unlock it first and I can’t remember how….

What size are the existing bass driver holes?
Could you turn the speakers upside down?
It might be that the existing holes will work. If they are a bit too small then by the time you've added a new baffle they might be big enough - assuming the drive units are 'tapered'
And the tweeter hole ...
