Re: Owston meet 27+28 Nov 21-add your name here

Sorry but after driving 30 miles, I heard the M62 was closed in two places. Surrounding routes are bad as well.
I made the decision to turn back. Gutted.
Happy to pay any costs, don't want Steve to be out of pocket.

I have COVID tests twice weekly, and I'm clear.

Re: Owston meet 27+28 Nov 21-add your name here

Finally managed to log in to the forum, with help from Nick.
Old age and stupidity led me to use the wrong login details.
Look forward to meeting up again at the weekend.

Re: Audio Talk, days gone by.

Yep i remember being impressed by that simple design idea.
It was perhaps better when we were new to all this.
I won't forget turning up at my first Eggfest, with a tiny T amp and some full range speakers.

After seeing amplifiers the size of a dining table, I wondered why I had bothered.

But ...

Re: Audio Talk - what is it?

This forum doesn't need a kick up the ar*e, it just needs some input from young people who are interested in how things work.
Sadly there are very few about.

My interest hasn't waned, but my needs have changed.
Happy new year, by the way.

Yep.
I think people get a little carried away with these projects, and imagine great results.
I built a new linear power supply for my PS1 and it still didn't excite me in any way.
Never regretted doing it though.
Sometimes you just have to find out for yourself.

Maybe not, but people like my wife probably boost the figures. She's got through more than twenty vacuum cleaners in as many years.
The Dysons have lasted the longest so far :)

And, looking at where the SPDIF needs to be taken from, it's two legs of a surface mount chip. Shocked
I think i used two lengths of CAT5 twisted together for a flying lead.

Interesting project Phil.

I tried it a few years ago but stopped short of using a remote control, and reboxing it..
They're quite easy to work on, as i remember.
Sadly i don't have any of the bits anymore, or i could have sent you some spares.
I couldn't see any improvement over my regular CD ...

So in my mind first we have to establish a place in the venue for this speaker or that speaker to sound best.

then it occurs to me we could have our other stuff portable and briong it into that place. Whether there are two of those places or just one. (each end or the entrance end, which I suspect ...

Thanks Nick.

That's pretty much what I had done.
Bone scraping.
Tendon repair.
Muscles pinned back in place.

I've got most of the range of movement back, but only with the assistance of the other arm.
Will be some time before I can move the right arm fully independently.
Feel like progress is ...

Cheap Android tablet arrived.
Recognises a 320gb hard drive and plays files.
But........
Don't think tablet usb port has enough welly to power the hard drive, as the connection sometimes drops out.
Decided to transfer files to SD cards and play music from there.
Less cables and less fuss.
Sounds ok ...

Three weeks on from my shoulder operation, i'm finally rid of the arm sling.

Just have to get the arm working again. Lots of exercise and pain will apparently sort it out.
Thank God for physiotherapy; it would seem an impossible task otherwise.

Another month off work at least, is what they reckon ...
