The last 3 werks spent stripping out and refitted the bathroom, moving an internal wall and...

Re: what are you doing ?

Went to a talk last night given by Anthony Seldon about the Via Sacra/Western Front Way - a 1,000km walking/cycling route that he's championed and hopes will become a new Camino... Extraordinary man: deeply thoughtful, compassionate & intelligent. We need more people like him. I've heard him spe...

Re: Solder

Never really liked no clean stuff - cleaning is easy with a cotton bud and some IPA.

The general thinking is that leaving the board uncleaned is not a great plan in the long term as the contaminants can cause leakage etc.

Re: Active USB C / USB 3.2 Gen 2 cables...

So, settled on a Lindy 43308V2 5mtr active cable as: it's from a real company that you can talk to and who is in the UK (and Germany), they designed the cable (it's not some generic white-labelled bit of stuff), they test every cable before sending it out, they can tell you exactly what it does and ...

Re: General Raspberry Pi stuff

Yes the active cooling fan is noisy, very irritating pitch. Ive found the official case fan is a bit more acceptable, lower in pitch and a bit quieter… I had to remove the fan from the heatsink and rotate the case fan housing and fan 180deg so it would fit… Just done the same thing - good call - bi...

Found a workaround with:
$ sudo cat > /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device0/cur_stat

Then type 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 (4 full speed, 0 is off) to set the fan
Going to be a bit tedious doing that in real time...

Looks like there might be a fix:
