Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Sorry the largest I have are 5.6mH, 1.4mm dia. wire , 0.15 ohms. They are transformer coils for sub-woofers and are these: https://www.monacor.com/products/compon ... -/lsi-56t/

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Only problem is I will probably have to wait another 4 weeks for delivery of the coils…… What value inductors are you needing? I have quite a lot of spare Jantzen air and iron core and a few Mundorf ferrite/Aronit core values you can have for a small price + cost of postage. Might save you some tim...

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

For what it's worth I don't like that egg crate type foam lining. From experiment in the past I find this can suck the life from some of the midrange magic. Interesting that TG never uses it also and a reason why a lot of TL speakers use it to line the taper outlet on this type design speaker? I use...

Re: Toroidal Transformer Mounting

you could make a pair of 90mm dia isolation washers from leather. I'm sure I have some left over leather pieces from an old speaker build you can have. Send me a PM or email via the forum if you don't have any spare leather off-cuts. I could easily make up a couple 90mm washers. I would just need th...

Re: My Swansong speaker build

Thats a heck of a lot of drivers! I like it. Did you try running them all at once? I know I would :) Well now Mr Bass, the answer to your question,as Arte Johnson from the original Rowen and Martins TV show would say: https://youtu.be/_SVSak1oBCw EDIT. I should say one needs to substitute the word ...

Re: My Swansong speaker build

Last weekend AndrewL and Nick came over for a mini get together so I decided it would be nice to place my old speakers alongside my new so we could compare now the new speakers are fully run-in. It was also hoped Chris (chris661) could join us and experiment driving the Edingdale GT's fully active w...

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Hi, I do like some of the TG speaker designs but do wonder if they perform as good as with a (how shall I put this?), a cheaper version of his chosen drivers (that always seem to be top-of-the-range from his sponsored driver catalogue), and not using the most expensive crossover components from the ...

Steve,
you appear to have listed Andrew twice.
Just thought I'd mention it if you are booking and paying the buffet lunch for a fixed number of attendees.

Re: Owston meet, 21 & 22nd Oct '23

Steve s,
can you add my name to the list of attendees for the Saturday, please.

I shall be travelling with AndrewL who has asked me to mention his need of a gluten free buffet lunch. Hopefully this can be accommodated?

Re: Speaker cabinets

Hmmm, I wonder if they could be modified with a new front baffle to use the little 4in full-rangers I have listed. I'll check out the thread Colin has linked to for the dimensions and stick the info into an on-line cabinet calculator. Colin, I guess you used 12mm ply? To be honest Ray, I can't reme...

Re: Speaker cabinets

Ah! I remember making these in 2012 for young Chris to take with him to UNI. BB Ply construction covered in Santos Rosewood veneer with a gloss finish. For those interested here is the original thread started by Chris, that retails the original driver array and design concept. I do remember they had...
