And then what as Nick has nowhere to put the speakers once finalized and built LOL
You could well end up the guardian of the finished speakers with them set up in one your demo rooms.

Oops you are quite right to correct my error. One too many glasses of red wine is my excuse.

Re: Owston meet 27+28 Nov 21-add your name here

Those drivers look nice. Yes the tweeter was coming in at around 6k I believe . Though later we tried the lowther without its series inductor. It sounded less shouty than when I first tried it but the drivers have a few more hours on them now. We then tried a smaller inductor and I think it filled ...

Re: driving licenses

Ed, I'm not aware of this requirement and could not find anything online. However as I'm sure you are aware one has to renew ones driving licence at age 70 and then renew every 3 years after that. Be aware though that when renewing at age 70 you check you still have all the same groups on your new l...

Re: Owston ‘21: What Are You Bringing?

Tried the fit in my car earlier today and they just go in. So they will be going to the ball. It's the small 2-way stand mounts I may struggle to find space for.

Re: Owston ‘21: What Are You Bringing?

Colin usually brings a complete system ? , I was also wondering how nicks new lowther speakers where coming on and if they will be making an appearance? I wasn't intending bringing any my own gear this year. However having chatted with Nick I have agreed with his consent to bring along the test Qua...

Re: Nothing In Particular

I also had by Moderna covid booster jab yesterday and fortunately for me have suffered no ill effects at all. Unless you count a slight dull ache in my left arm around the area the needle went in. Didn't feel a thing when the nurse injected me. Must be just the luck of the draw as I have read others...

Re: What I've been doing during lockdown

well done on the build Colin, looks awesome. I like the elevator interpretation. I've never split one like that before. How much play do get on the unsupported piano wire? Thanks Ed. Thought you would appreciate the beauty of the model. There is no slop in the linkage movement to the elevators. If ...

Re: What I've been doing during lockdown

Thanks for the recommendation Nick. It's something Lynn and me have on our list of urgent things we must do. Too late for mum's estate though. We did try to set up something similar years ago as mum and dad always spoke that they wanted the bungalow to go to me and my sister as our legacy when they ...

Re: What I've been doing during lockdown

Thanks Ant, I must confess it's been a very trying last couple of years. Hope to see a light at the end of the tunnel later this month when we hope to complete on the sale of mum's bungalow. This has been forced on us to pay for the full time care costs which will be over £850.00 per week once the s...

Re: What I've been doing during lockdown

I hadn't realised it's been near on 18-months since I last posted any progress with this build. Notwithstanding the new bathroom, that seemed to be never ending with problems, we then did other home improvements that were carried out during the first lockdown. I also had the stress and strain of dea...

Re: The Audio-Talk Motorcycling thread.

Spotted this on BBC News online 'Technology' pages under the heading "Could this be the worlds fastest electric bike? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-leicestershire-59239794 the interesting bit is the unique frame design with a hole through to aid aerodynamics. At the moment it is stil...

Tank full or empty when garaging bike over winter?

At the end of this month when my road tax runs out for my Harley I shall be prepping the bike ready for over-wintering and storing in my unheated concrete garage, that can get damp with persistent winter rain. The bike will get a thorough clean and polish and then given a liberal spraying all over w...

Re: PERSPEX QUASAR ver 2.0 prototype build

Yes that can be done very easily and will give a forth and fifth experiment to try out, counting the cap swaps as numbers 4 and 5. However if memory serves me, I think we started out with something around the 56uF mark and were advised this was perhaps too low a value? But thinking again this may ha...
