Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

I've never listened to The Wall since that Witham... In that case, here is one just for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-gF-tmblA8 I saw enough to find out a lot of skill behind it, but became as bored as an 8 year old boy at a posh performance of Swan Lake. So after not too long put The wall...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

It seems only yesterday the charity shops in Scarborough were awash with the Black and White Minstrels James Last Tijuana Brass. Only 25 years ago when we moved to Scarborough. And of course plenty of Flute soloists with too many pieces of flute music on. But the most boring show I was taken to was ...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Shane it was probably about 1974 when a mate bought that LP I had to endure it daily that summer, we spent whole time listening for when he said “Tubular Bells”! WTF Probably better for the mental health than a whole side of a one trick pony Album Acker Bilk, James whatsisname etc. At least Mike Old...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Problem with James Galloway Acker Bilk and that xylophone plink plonker Lionel Hampton is you’re ready for a strong rope and an Oak tree after one side. Everything in moderation.

Re: Class A2 - heater hum

Sometimes power supply counters the filament hum , even though the use ofchokes shifts the phase a little I’ve had a 212 amp which removed hum unplanned, but very pleased about it. That was the first 212 amp in my dining room a few people in here might recall.

Re: 801a amplifier

I planned to 572b shunt regulate the main b+. At home my voltage is consistently 243v.

I know that wasteful heavy type of b+ sounds great. I’d find it hard to try without but I suppose I should.

Re: 801a amplifier

That makes it easier and I can use the plus side to adjust bias.

Re: 801a amplifier

Well the NightinGale Audio project box wasn’t intended for so many chops and changes so it’s beginning to look like a Swiss cheese. But after the eventual build is complete : first iteration relatively simple VA D3a triode LCL coupled, because the grid chokes are high ac load with relatively low dc ...

Re: 801a amplifier

Little progress but to give me a lift I popped valves in. 10y’s ans MH41. Plans changed to need more bases for el84 and D3a But it’s nice just handling the valves. https://i.ibb.co/ZgHVf4w/E6663-FB7-9339-41-A0-9-ED5-7-F13-E58-A6-E37.jpg https://i.ibb.co/WKsZJ9f/9-E5-FD13-F-11-B1-425-C-8-F32-63716-F9...

Re: 801A VT62 Power and Distortion

... two surplus d3a to sell? The concept of 'surplus' D3a's amuses me. Rather similar to recipes involving 'left-over wine' :) Was it a group buy we did of a pack of boxed D3a originally? Im well happy. Anyway I sold the last of those to Andrew, and thought thats all mine gone. But at lockup it see...
