Re: Zappa documentary

coolio....thanks for the heads up... there was an hour long docu about the making of freak out about 3 weeks ago.....I think it was on sky arts but I forgot to mention it. It would have been academic if I had cos I don't think it's available on any 'watch later' platforms. I had steered clear of the...

Re: mystery whine

moving on...... left the scope ground probe connected to the fin on the headphone amp...no whine disconnected the I/Cs going into the amp and the whine immediately came back... so, to my mind the culprit is deffo the class d amp but it doesn't produce a whine if the ground upstream is connected to e...

Re: mystery whine

The problem is that class D amps normally drive both +ve and -ve rails, so you can't just hang a ground on the speaker as one day you will plug a grounded source in and short out half the amps output stage (or you may have done that to get the spark). I would consider hanging a ground wire on the o...

mystery whine

not really a project but I struggled to find a better place for it.... for the last couple of weeks I've noticed a whine coming from the stats when the system is idle. The whine is audible in the room but not loud. I say idle because the breeze class d is switched to standby but the pi and the dac a...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Re: freddie's gone to pot

a thought just occurred...

what happens if a pot fails in my 339?
or the better question: what does one do to remedy a pot failing in a 339?

Re: payg data only sim card

thanks guys, but as I wrote in the first post I want a card that supports 2G(for a GPRS modem) and charges by the MB used. I only use about 30MB per month so the 4GB and 8GB are way over the top. I currently pay £1 per month for 200mb but I only use about 20MB and I have to pay the £1 every month by...

payg data only sim card

bit of a long shot this one... I'm struggling to find a data only sim card that doesn't involve pay up front... The one I'm currently using in this installation is proving trixy to transfer credit to an add-on. I want a card that supports 2G(for a GPRS modem) and charges by the MB used. I only use a...

Re: freddie's gone to pot

Yay!! Freddie's back in business. I had to ream the holes in the plate to get the new pots in as they were half a mil bigger diameter on the threads.... also the tone control is next to useless...I put the old cap back which is 0.068uf, which I guess is good for 500k pots..I think the 250k pots woul...

Re: freddie's gone to pot

thanks Chris....I had 3 x cts 250k log delivered yesterday. I think it's an age thing, but I do seem to be overthinking everything these days....having given it a bit more "sensible" thought I don't think it would matter what I put in because I'm unlikely to be able to tell the difference....

don't know if he'd be interested but I've been "designing" wings for model aircraft for years. I developed a program many years ago to print airfoil sections from established designs in order to build the wings.... http://www.vitalstates.org/diy/software/vsl-software.htm#software It uses a...
