Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

I got the proxxon one for the mf70 i used to have and kept it when i sold the 70, the other one is a 4 inch soba with a 4 jaw bolted to an adapter plate so i can use it as a reasonably accurate dividing head without having to shell out for an accurate dividing head For my acheivable accuracy its pre...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

I did pretty much the same to measure the at cart, ground a point on a couple of cart bolts and put them in the mounting slots facing the bottom so i could get a reasonably accurate centre to measure from. I just bolted the cart onto a bit of 3mm acrylic using the pointy bolts and used a minature sq...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

I could do that easily enough, i have a couple of rotary tables. The little teeny proxxon one should be just the job. The carrier is 4mm thick so should have enough meat on it to rebate it underneath for a retaining nut. If i needed to i could either superglue a nut to a bit of stud so i could skim ...

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Sony did that in the 70s, starting with the px 70 i think it was, and the biotracer psx 600 and 800. sony bulk molding compound or something like that, the sbmc acronym. A mix of powdered granite and some sort of resin Ive been contemplating it for ages but never did it, the molds would have to be v...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

Ill have to remember that trick, although it might not have worked too well with this one because the centre bore on the 4 jaw i have on it at the moment is 22mm so not a lot to stick the part to. However grabbing a disc or something in the chuck jaws and using that would solve that. I have superglu...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

Decided to put it on, it just fits. The mounting screw is hard up against the front of the slot so its marginal, there isn't any wiggle room at all. Really the slot needs to be about a mil longer https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53714936722_86873ee3cb_k.jpg Cx unipivot offset cart carrier plate b...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

For reference for anyone bothered, this is the dial gauge setup, it can be fitted to the mill or the lathe using a simple machined bracket. The compound slide on the lathe is rarely used so I took it off and fitted a decent tool post and used its mounting bolt holes to fit the dial gauge. the gauge ...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

Managed to get something done yesterday. Iterating on the pin idea for the cart carrier I simplified it further. This is what I ended up with https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53715417386_25c783f542_k.jpg Cx tonearm cartridge carrier plate by anthony cresswell , on Flickr As you can see compared t...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

Hollow pin above the stylus tip, short slots in the carrier to make sure the cart is in the right place for the pin to be above the stylus, slot in the arm tube for the pin to ride in, thread in the hollow pin for a bolt, bolts into the slot. Rotates in the slot for offest and rides along it to adju...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration

Another point i just remembered is a conversation with charles at trupoint when i ordered the jewels for the bearing. was to use a round cup jewel instead of a v jewel and to use a rounded bearing pin instead of a pointed one. They did the bearings for the naim aro, (incedentally i have a copy of an...
