Re: Zero emission road vehicles.

Just reading those links, it seems the problem is a combination of the price cuts hitting their residual values, which of course matters for fleet owners, and repair costs. Can't seen any indication that the running cost that a normal owner would face is the problem, sounds like its more related to ...

And how does that make you feel?

Re: The cloud.

When you start telling people what there perspective is , you can be fairly sure it is time to stop digging . No, in this case I think I am fine, no spade needed. Your perspective in this context, is that of a user of the forum/cloud service on the end of a ip pipe. Nothing more or less than that. ...

Re: The cloud.

You are wrong. I have no legally enforceable agreement with nick , he can do what he wants and I would have no recourse . That isn't a contract no matter how much you stretch the definition. . . But from your perspective it is a cloud service, which by your definition can not exist. My definition &...

Re: The cloud.

And with a small change to a DNS record it can be running on a server sitting under my desk in 10 minutes and you would not know any difference. So I really don't see your point. The fact that I pay for the server that this is currently hosted on is irreverent to my providing the forum running on a ...

Re: The cloud.

Well, you did accept a EULA when you joined, so there is that. But this is running on a remote server, so is a cloud service by anyone's definition but yours.

Yep, I thought of that, but I suspected Ant had need of a solution that didn't involve any more holes for controls.

Re: The cloud.

Its not somebody else computer, the relationship between host and you is governed by a contract That's just stupid, when I get on a bus I have a contract for that journey with the bus operator, doesn't make it my bus at any part of that journey. Do you think you in any way own google when you do a ...

Re: what are you doing ?

Just throw a few 1k resistors around it to make a 6dB gain amp and supply it with a split rail supply. See if the output is still stuck at one of the rails. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/66/Operational_amplifier_noninverting.svg/220px-Operational_amplifier_noninverting.svg.p...

Why not add a resistor to one side of the pot to adjust the volumn to match the room.

A handstand then, that's the solution.

Re: what are you doing ?

Unusual for a TL074 to die. Do you still have the faulty op amp? If so might be interesting to see if it still does the same thing on the bench. It may just be dead, but the only thing that comes to mind is that if op amps are powered up with one of their inputs outside rails or the inputs outside ...

Re: The cloud.

"The Cloud" can mean a whole lot of different architecture and systems, but in general if you are just on the other end of a IP pipe then you can safely think of it as entirely equivalent to "someone else's computer".
