Re: Attempting to understand the Loading on a Cartridge

Loading the secondary or primary of the step up are options, though personally I have never got on with primary loading, but I know Andrew is a fan. There is also potential merit of fitting a zobel on the step up secondary, but again I remember hearing mixed results.

Well just tried primary ...

Re: Mofo

What current are you running Steve? Do you have plans to increase when you have more voltage to play with?

Re: Snail Phono Pre

I have 100R on each triode grid.

Just by connecting up the ECC83s, the ringing/overshoot is already much reduced: 20-05-12 Image #3 SUT, 47k load and ECC83s only small.jpg

I'm thinking that adding further components is probably an unnecessary over-complication. But then we go on about the ...

Re: Snail Phono Pre

Did some playing today with a 1k square wave and the Goring SUTs. 1st was to find an optimum Zobel network - 160pF and 4k7 gave me this: 20-05-12 Image #4 SUT, 47k load, no series R & 160pF+4k7 Zobel small.jpg

But then the ECC83 and grid stoppers are in themselves a HP filter so what if I were ...

Yes thank you Ed, and thanks for the bits to get me started on this one.

I'd better get round to tweaking my 41MP pre as I am sure Steve's will wipe the floor with it.

Re: Snail Phono Pre

So my challenges to get the most out of this amp continue.

When scoping the installed SUTs in my phono, the input is out of phase: 20-05-11 SUT trace small.jpg

When looking at the underside and markings, guess it was easy for the original builder to get them the wrong way around - thought he ...

Re: Cheap SUT - AT630 upgrade?

Done some playing around with my new toy and seem to be getting somewhere. From this with 47k load: 20-05-10 Image #1 SUT and 47k load small.jpg

To this with added Zobel: 20-05-10 Image #7 SUT, 47k load and 320pF & 5k6 network small.jpg

The frequency of the oscillation/ringing is well above ...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

I used to skimp on tyres, constantly trying to find that elusive bargain but frequently suffered from pictures.

Then upgraded to Grand Prix 4000 on my summer bike and touch wood, no punctures since. I do keep them well inflated at 100psi.

Bombproof Schwalb Durano DD on my Winter bike. Again no ...

Does that mean I'm nominated for an award. Might be interesting a Darwen award at the next Owston.

Can you get a Shimano compattable hub for the campag rear, but probably just as cheap to buy a replacement wheel with Shimano hub.

Just seems strange why not have their own UK eBay account. Must be a tax thing - might be moving hq because of Brexit.

Looks like circa £300/par for the 1:10/1:20 option plus postage. Fixed ratio ones £225 plus postage.
