Having shared communication with Colin while he was building his electrostatic diy speakers, I found him to be kind, helpful and very encouraging.
I thank Colin's wife for supporting Colin to live his best life, we all know how much joy diy audio can bring.

Re: Hooking up Subwoofer with Class D amplifier
Thanks Rowuk for your post, I was just wanting to check before causing any damage to my equipment, I've had the subs sitting idle since getting my monoblocks, it would be good to be able to try them out.

Re: Hooking up Subwoofer with Class D amplifier
Thanks Nick for your reply, I was just guessing on the premiss that the difference in voltage output.
Line level output: 6V rms balanced; 3V rms unbalanced.
But I can see if the balanced is getting 2x3v rms and the unbalanced is sharing one rail and getting 3v rms?

Re: Hooking up Subwoofer with Class D amplifier
Could I assume that the outputs are independently buffered so there’s no issue with having a different load connected to the XLR and RCA outputs?
There are different voltage shown on the dac's spec between the XLR and RCA, does indicate that they are independently buffered?
Chris

Hooking up Subwoofer with Class D amplifier
Just double checking if it's possible to connect my subwoofer to my dac pre out?
As I am using monoblocks amps similar to Class D with floating earth and did not want to connect via the speaker cable as I did with previous amplifier.
This is the spec for the dac : Line level output: 6V rms ...

Re: Dedicated mains for audio
Hi Greg and Paul
I would like to try out the balanced mains approach, I can only guess the amount of DC on the mains will differ from area to area also it's effect will impact different components.
The ring mains doubles up with twice the cables as a radial, which saves in the amount of copper ...

Dedicated mains for audio
Next week I am having my consumer box replaced, it seems they are going back to metal boxes, after finding the plastic ones burn nicely. Being in a bungalow I can run down some cable from the loft for a radial circuit purely for the hi-fi, I have found a roll in the garage of 10mm shower cable. Just ...

Re: Tweeters with horns
Thanks for your reply "rowuk", yes the finish if very good, compared to my very large ribbon tweeters these have more focus but a much more narrow bandwidth in the frequency range.
I guess that I will return them at the weekend as I do feel they are within a specialist area of hi-fi so will be hard ...

Re: Tweeters with horns
Looking at the average sold prices mainly being sold in the USA, the average sold price on ebay is about £500 including the higher postage and not including the 20% tax. I am not sure about the oak horns as they are a one off £300-£500, is that about the right ballpark price?

Tweeters with horns
Hi, I have been given some JBL 075 tweeters with oak horns to be sold for a friend, I will put on ebay at sometime in the near future. I have tried them out with a simple crossover and they are sound very nice. So if anyone has any idea what the value of these might be? I would be very greatful ...

I have now the 8mm aluminium plate to fix the binding posts to, I think that it will be best to just rub down with wet and dry sandpaper working down to finer grades of paper then buff up for a mirror finish then spray with a laquer to protect.
